A foundation is only as good as the hole it goes in. Spring Creek Builds excavates foundations for new homes in eastern Idaho, working from the surveyed foundation points and preparing the site so the concrete crew can do their work.
Excavation Laid Out From the Survey
Before we dig, the property is surveyed so the exact location of the foundation is marked from foundation point to foundation point. We excavate to those points. Getting the layout right here saves problems at every later stage, since the footings, walls, utilities, and finish grade all follow from it.
Compaction and the Geo Survey
Some builders and companies ask for a geo survey to confirm the compaction is good for the foundation before the concrete goes in. When it is part of the job, we work with it. It is one more reason to talk to us early, so we know what the builder or the engineer needs on the site.
Working With the Concrete Crew
After we excavate, the concrete crew forms and pours the foundation. We put in the underground utilities that run inside the foundation, and then we backfill. Timing matters, because the concrete, utilities, and backfill each depend on the one before it, so we coordinate with the other trades to keep the build moving. See our utility trenching page for the lines that go in.
Backfill and Prep for What Comes Next
Once the foundation is in, we backfill around it. The goal is to leave the site ready for the next step. If a landscaping crew is coming, or the owner wants more concrete for a patio or a parking area, we can prep the ground for that as well. Larger structures, such as an RV garage, can mean extra concrete prep.
What We Need From You
Foundation work depends on the building permit and the approved design. The homeowner or general contractor is responsible for the permit, and we start once the permit and the design have been signed off by the city or county. If you are still working on those, reach out anyway, and we will talk through where you are in the process.
