Utility Trenching in Eastern Idaho

Trenching and installation for power, fiber optic, water, and sewer lines to a new home.

A new home needs lines run to it before anyone can live there. Spring Creek Builds excavates and installs utility lines for new homes in eastern Idaho, including power, fiber optic, water, and sewer.

The Lines We Run

  • Power. We bring in power to the site, including power for the other contractors to use while the home is being built.
  • Fiber optic. Fiber lines get trenched in with the other utilities.
  • Water. We coordinate with the well drilling company for homes on a well, or connect the home to city water.
  • Sewer. We connect the home to the city sewer line when one is available. When it is not, we install a septic system instead.

Utilities Inside the Foundation

Some utilities have to go in before the foundation is backfilled. After the concrete crew pours the foundation, we put in the underground utilities that run inside it, and then we backfill. That order matters, so we coordinate with the concrete crew and the other trades to keep it right.

City Hookups and Septic

Many new homes in the city connect to city sewer, so a big part of the work is trenching to the connection. On properties outside the sewer, the septic system takes the place of the sewer hookup, usually near the end of the project. See our septic system installation page for that side of the work.

Call 811 Before Any Digging

Idaho law asks excavators to contact Idaho's one-call center by calling 811 at least two business days before digging, so underground utilities get marked first. Do not dig on your own to find a line, since buried utilities are a real hazard.

Planning Your Utilities

Tell us about your property: where the home will sit, where power and water are available, and whether you are on a well or city water. Send what you know through the contact form and we will help work out the plan.
